Firework Safety

It's that time of the season again... American Independence Day!

We celebrate American Independence Day on the 4th of July every year. We think of July 4th, 1776 as the day that represents the Declaration of Independence, the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.

When celebrating with our family and friends, comes with the celebration of firing off fireworks! This can be a fun celebration with our loved ones, but can also be a very dangerous celebration if not careful.

Here are some tips to ensure safety when celebrating 4th of July and lighting off some fireworks...

  • Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.
  • Light only one firework at a time-and never re-light a "dud" firework.
  • Never discharge fireworks in metal or glass containers.
  • Be sure to have a responsible adult in charge at all times.
  • Never allow children to play with fireworks.
  • Always buy from an established retail outlet. (Please never buy illegal Fireworks)
  • Never make your own fireworks, and be on the lookout for anyone experimenting with homemade fireworks
  • (No piccolo Pete Bombs)
  • Always read and follow the directions on the label.
  • Light fireworks away from homes.
  • Keep a bucket of water nearby at all times.
  • The person discharging the fireworks should wear eye protection-and never have any part of their body over a firework.
