Carbon Monoxide: Precautionary Steps Needed

Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning occurs when the CO fumes are inhaled, builds up in your bloodstream and becomes a life-threatening emergency. SERVPRO of Carson/West Carson would like to enlighten the residents of Carson and others the precautions and dangers of this colorless, odorless and tasteless poison.

Also known as The Silent Killer, every year over 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning.  Last year alone approximately 20,000 people across the country visited emergency rooms with 4,000 actually being diagnosed with CO poisoning and hospitalized.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Symptoms:

  • Blurred Vision
  • Dizziness
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Confusion
  • Loss of Consciousness
  • Headache

This should not be taken lightly and we as a community need to take precautionary steps in order to keep our families and health in tacked. Provided by the United States Fire Administration, these are a few steps in order to eliminate Carbon Monoxide poisoning:

  • Vents for the dryer, stove and furnace areas need to be debris and clutter free.
  • Abstain from using grills inside the home or garage, even if doors are open.
  • When warming up your car in the garage, remove the car once starting it. Also making sure that the exhaust pipe is not blocked by any debris or other materials.

Here at SERVPRO of Carson/West Carson provide the skill, honesty, and integrity in order to provide the consumer with the highest degree of professionalism possible.
